I personally use this foam for most, if not all of my foam coring needs. I see very often in DIY boat building discussions the use of "coosa" style material far too often. Coring materials like coosa board and similar are designed for applications that require high compression strength such as through bolting fixtures, towers, leaning post and most commonly in transoms. Coosa board is a 28lb density fiberglass reinforced foam that works great for these examples, however, for large deck span and coring material in molded parts, the 28lb density is overkill and not necessary. Coosa style board is significantly heavier than a lower density foam board, and its significantly more expensive.
