PARTALL #10 PVA Polyvinyl Alcohol

PVA (polyvinyl alcohol is a water soluble solution used mainly in the marine industry as a mold release agent and for fully curing polyester resins and gelcoats that do not contain wax additives.

Very easy to use by spray, brush, or rolling applying very light coats until your desire film thickness is reached.

When used as a mold release agent simply coat the mold to be used over polished mold release wax to add a secondary mold release layer. Depending on the mold surface, PVA can be used by itself with no mold release wax. Spraying is suggested for best results in a mold application.

PVA can also be used to fully cure gelcoat or laminating resins so they can be sanded with out the need to add any wax additive.  Introducing a wax into your resins or gelcoats could cause adhesion issues later in the project so it is suggested to not use wax additives unless you are 100% certain that you are applying the final coat.

To fully cure gelcoat, allow the surface to partially cure typically 30-60 minutes depending on the weather and the amount of MEKP used.  Once the surface is tack free, spray, brush, or roll PVA over the surface and let it cure to a thin film.  Allow the resin/gelcoat time to cure under the PVA layer and then wash it off with water.  Your gelcoat/resin surface will now be hardened and ready for sanding without sand paper clumping.
